Yesterday I went downtown to help with Oklahoma Academy set up a actual size replica of the sanctuary in the Old Testament. This was a great experience. I was amazed at all the support. There were almost 100 people to help. However, this is no easy project. This is quit a job. Many of us had to use a sledge hammer to drive in metal stakes. Others had to push up the walls of the sanctuary. It was hard work. However, we all knew it was for a greater purpose. It made us all realize how amazing the Israelites were to travel around the wilderness with the sanctuary. It is heavy. And then how imperfect we were as we put it together. We had walls not level and screws holding all these pieces together. In the Old Testament, the sanctuary was put together perfectly. God gave them the plans and it fit perfectly. That was definitly not us. But, even with that said, the model that Oklahoma Academy built was really incredible and quit a testimony.
Some of the people who were helping were people who had dedicated their time to come and travel with them. They would help setting up, be a tour guide, take down, and then travel to the next destination. I talked to one girl who was from the academy and she told me they have 12 other locations they have to go to this year. One guy told me he was from California and he went on the tour out there and he was changed. He told me that he left California and travels with them full time as a tour guide. He loves it and he wants to show others how it changed his life.
There will be two sanctuaries set up outside of the Georgia Dome throughout the General Conference session. They will be open to give tours throughout each day.
