Local Legend - And I Didn't Know It

The beginning of June will mark the one year anniversary of my time at Hiram and Lakeview. And it is amazing how I seem to find out new things each and every week. This past week I was driving to do a home visit and I passed a sign that said Travis Tritt Hwy. I had seen that sign several times, however, I never really thought much about it. But, this time I took another road and about 1 mile down the street I saw this really nice property. Then I slowed down and saw this gated entrance with surveillance cameras and no parking signs. I wasn't sure, but I decided to check it out when I got home. I looked it up on the Internet and sure enough, it was Travis Tritt's home.
As I had said, I have been here a year and I just found out that Travis Tritt lives 3 miles from Hiram church. This is great. I love it. Back in Cleveland, TN where I grew up, the only celebrity that lived there was Phil Driscal. That's right. You only know him if you play the trumpet. He is our Cleveland legend. However, now that I live close to Hiram, I got a new local celebrity, even though he has probably lived there for years. And growing up listening to country music, I remember buying 2 or 3 of his cassettes. I can't believe I'm admitting that. However, his classics, "I'm Gonna Be Somebody," and "Tell Me I Was Dreaming," they were great.

  1. It's a great day to be alive, I know the sun's still shining when I close my eyes. Hey, did I ever tell you that I got paid to see him live in concert Jr. year?
